Elkie

Elkie (엘키) is a Hong Kong singer-songwriter and actress. She is one of the lead vocalists of the girl group CLC.

Early Life[]

Elkie was born on November 2, 1998 in Taipo District, Hong Kong. She has an older sister.

She is an alumni of Carmel Pak U Secondary School.

Career[]

2009–2014: Career beginnings, Honeybees[]

Elkie worked as a child actress in Hong Kong and signed an acting contract with TVB, the country's leading television broadcasting company. Prior to her debut in CLC, she had starred in a total of 29 dramas, most of which achieved great successes within Hong Kong.

Moreover, Elkie was a member of the child girl group Honeybees. Her time period in the group had not been disclosed, she is presumed to have left sometime in 2013.

2016: Debut with CLC[]

On February 23, 2016, Cube Entertainment released a teaser photo hinting at the addition two new members.[1][2] On February 25, Elkie was officially introduced through individual teaser photos.[3] She debuted as a member of CLC on February 29, with the release of their third mini album Refresh.

2018: Solo debut[]

On November 20, 2018, news outlet MBN News reported that Elkie would be making her solo debut on November 23. On the same day, Cube Entertainment confirmed the reports.[4][5][6] A day later, on November 21, teaser photos were released confirming the title "I dream". On November 23, the song was released as a digital single.[7]

2020–2021: Departure from Cube Entertainment[]

On December 25, 2020, it was reported that Elkie had filed a lawsuit for the termination of her exclusive contract with Cube Entertainment.[8] Elkie's representative cited lack of payment, lack of creative freedom, and an account of verbal abuse as the motive behind the sudden decision.[9]

2023: "Speed Up", Show up girls[]

On August 23, 2023, Elkie announced the release of her debut Chinese single "Speed Up", which would be released on August 11.

In October 2023, Elkie was revealed as a contestant on the Taiwanese reality survival show Show up girls.

On February 20, 2021, Elkie shared her support for the One China policy through her Instagram and Weibo accounts.[10]
